Caught twice for robbery, suspect says he won't give up - PHOTO

A robbery suspect named Richard Akinwale, 24,  confessed on Wednesday that he is obsessed with robbery and will not give up the trade because he saw nothing wrong in it.

Akinwale was arrested by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command, for allegedly stealing a Black SAAB Saloon Car, with registration number, AAA 581 CG, belonging to his benefactor.

It is the second time he would steal the car and get caught.

The suspect had earlier stolen the car on July 8, 2016 but his benefactor forgave him and bailed him
out from the Police Station at Ogonbo Police division in Ajah area, where the case was initially reported.

This time, the suspect was trailed from Iju road, Fagba area, for about five hours before he was apprehended along Wempco road in Agindigbin.

Akinwale, dropped-out from Northern American University in Cotonou, Benin Republic, gained entrance into the living room of the victim, Adelabu Tolani, through the ceiling to pick the car keys. He also stole other  valuables before leaving with the car.

The suspect told the RRS interrogators that the victim was the sole financier of his university education, and that he stole the car and other valuables to punish him.

The victim, Adelabu said he regretted assisting the suspect. He said he sent Akinwale out of his house
“because I don’t want him to corrupt good character of my children because they are grown-ups too.
“When he stole the car the first time, I reported the case to nearby police station in Ogonbo in Ajah area. The Policemen arrested him the second day and he was detained for some days. After much pleading from him, I had to beg the DPO to release him that it was a family affair. I thought he would have a change of mind.
To my surprise, after two days, he went back to my house to steal the car again. This time around, I went to RRS office to report him. We laid siege for him around Iju in Agege, where we later apprehend him in Ikeja,” Adelabu said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Dolapo Badmos, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Lagos State Command confirmed the arrest.

She said that all hands are on deck to rid-off the state from all nefarious activities, IndependentNigeria reports.
